AW08 Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse ‘Graffiti’ VIP Monogram Denim
In 2001 Marc Jacobs’, Louis Vuitton’s then-creative director, teamed up with American artist Stephen Sprouse to unleash one of the most ground breaking works in fashion history. Walking hand in hand with Jacobs’ effort to bring luxury to the street level, together the two would create an electric LV graffiti monogram which ultimately appeared on a series of handbags, garments, bodysuits, runways, retail stores and even on subway cars. Toying with neons and absolute logo mania, the collaboration would swiftly become one of the most sought after in Vuitton’s long standing history, however Sprouse would unfortunately pass away three years later in 2004 from cancer. Prompting Jacobs’ to revisit their legacy in 2009 with a tribute to the late artist, a posthumous VIP collection would debut in the Fall 2008 collection in extremely limited quantities.
Debuting in the Fall 2008 VIP Louis Vuitton collection, this pair of jeans come complete with Stephen Sprouse monogramming in a black on black colour way. Fit with intentionally thrashed asymmetric distressing on either leg, a hot pink leather jacron label sits atop the waistband, in pair with matching button hardware. Fitting a size 32x37.5, in great condition throughout.
