AW22 Doublet ‘Shibori’ Porcupine Collegiate Logo Hoodie
Doublet is an emerging Japanese luxury street wear label designed by Masayuki Ino. Experimenting atop the runway since 2012, he graduated from Tokyo Mode Gakuen College of Fashion and Design, and swiftly became a long-term apprentice under Mihara Yasuhiro. Sharing similarly obscure design philosophies as the previously established creative, he coined the label ‘Doublet’ after the alternate name for the word puzzle, invented by Lewis Carroll, the author of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Continuously reinventing our ideals of wearable fashion through headless track jackets, bear leg bottoms and reversible clown knit sweaters, Ino’s perspective on the catwalk continues to distort traditional ideologies.
Debuting in the Autumn of 2022, this hoodie is known as the ‘Shibori’ porcupine sweater. Crafted from an incredibly stretchy material, the designers apply an ‘Arimatsu Shibori’ traditional Japanese dyeing technique on the tips of the fabric and wrap it with thread. Then applying photo print on the polyester fabric, they squeeze marks into the fabric with heat and steam, a process similar to pleating, to create the spiked shell exterior. Having been produced in limited quantities, this particular sweater is tagged as the 28/103 produced, and is in pristine condition as a size extra large.
