AW86 Katharine Hamnett ‘Diamond’ Pocket Re-edition Denim Cargo Jacket

$1,485.00Price
  • Katharine Hamnett is a British designer best known for invention the 'slogan' t-shirt and her interest in political activism. Gaining prominence in the 1980s after adorning white tees with text that read "CHOOSE LIFE", "CLEAN UP OR DIE" and "SAVE THE WORLD" for bands like Wham!, Katharine pushed for sustainability, human rights, environmental protection and social justice during her tenure as an independent creative. Alongside her unique focus on world issues, Hamnett’s overshadowed namesake label continues to demonstrate a utility-centric approach to timeless, minimal design. While rather unknown, her visionary approach emphasizes craft and textile, making for reliably outstanding silhouettes.

Debuting in Katharine Hamnett’s Autumn 1986 collection, this insanely rare denim jacket retains utmost prominence in fashion history. Heavily referenced by Raf Simons for his Autumn 2004 ‘Waves’ collection, this overcoat showcases a series of diamond cut cargo pockets and pen holsters. Fit with asymmetric, hidden angular compartments and reinforced patches on the elbows and shoulders, metallic hardware finished the cropped silhouette, in pair with a heavyweight indigo denim textile. Tagged as a size large, in pristine condition throughout.
