Nike ACG, an abbreviation of ‘All Conditions Gear’, was an unplanned venture under the brand’s umbrella. Dominating other world class sports, the activewear company would inaugurate its hiking-centric sub-genre in 1981. Prompted by a now viral photo of Rick Ridgeway and John Roskelley sporting yellow Nike LDVs on the K-2 summit, they’d launch Nike Hiking, ACG’s predecessor, incorporating new technologies like Gore-Tex into their designs. Teasing the ACG logo in anticipation of the Nike Pegasus in ‘88, the label would officially recognize All Conditions Gear that following year in 1989. Hitting the ground running, ACG would swiftly expand into all ventures of athletic wear, offering rugged performance textiles at an affordable price. The pivot would eternally shift Nike’s paradigm, pushing the label to persist with innovative and expansive measures.
Debuting in the Fall of 2008, this ACG jacket comes in an inflatable pine green colour way. Equipped with a straw on the left shoulder, the overcoat can be worn in one of two ways, either deflated as a Gore-Tex shell, or inflated to draw the textile closer to the wearer’s body. Insulating and warming the silk lined interior, the ‘Airvantage’ exotherm technology increases one’s temperature with a simple blow, creating an incredibly unique design on the front and back. With a mere push of the button inside the straw, the jacket with promptly decompress and return to its natural state. To finish, zippered vents are found under either arm, in pair with an ACG logo and two tone detailing throughout. Tagged as a size medium, in good condition aside from light use and select discolouration.
