SS18 Comme des Garçons Homme ‘Psychedelic’ Leopard Print Knit Sweater

Rei Kawakubo summed her Spring 2018 collection with a brief sentiment; “What’s on the inside matters”. As adolescent models bounced down the runway, a feeling of freedom pierced the air. The lively mannequins were encouraged to stray from couture norms by engaging with each other in an authentic dance. With each step, their personalities became fluent, crowding in groups and posing to the audience while smiling. The outwear was intentionally constructed inside out, layers bursting with pigment while abstract prints leached just beneath. Through every detail Kawakubo reminded us of our inner-selves, personalities and character traits, allowing each fleeting emotion to run wild.

 

From the chaotic array of garments, the most promising lied in the spirits of knitwear. Abstract patterns complimented every look, summed with polarizing prints and a contrasting palette. As showcased above, the sweater featured retains a two-tone leopard print and pink sleeves to pair. Yellow and brown hues are accented by a psychedelic display on the underside, boxy torso and oversized extremities. Tagged as a size medium, in pristine condition throughout.
