SS22 Balenciaga ‘Lost Tape’ Flared Cut Black Distressed Denim

Demna Gvasalia’s Autumn 2022 collection titled ‘The Lost Tape’ was described by the Balenciaga team as “a message from the past about what could have been and never was.” Drawing inspiration from the late 90s, this season the Georgian designer would focus on reworking unfinished silhouettes and ideas, using raw garments to demonstrate the passing of time. Presenting fleeting thoughts while unearthing old ideas, the collection itself would walk unfinished hems and DIY aesthetics, releasing jeans with wear and tear and bottoms with visible boxer waistbands. In contrast to a time capsule of looks, Demna Gvasalia would also reveal a personal change at the show’s closing, opting to only use ‘Demna’ for future works, as quoted stating, “distinguishing an artist title from a birthname and therefore separating creative work from personal life.”

 

Debuting in the Autumn 2022 collection, this pair of jeans features factory distressed heel bite on the bottom hem in a black shade. Cut to perfection, the denim is fit with a flared silhouette and elongated inseam which stacks atop any boot or sneaker effortlessly. Fitting a size 36x35, these bottoms are in great condition throughout.
